Bell's Merri-Hill Arabians has been in business since 1965. They started with one purebred mare, Ross Miss Fancy (Habu x Ross Amirrah), of Cedardell breeding. Ross Miss Fancy produced six fillies in a row and then produced twins, that lived, were sold and are still together on a farm.
Over the years the Bells have stood stallions including Rampart+ (x Bask); Zhivagohhh (x Abdulahhh); two-time U.S. Reserve Champion Stock Horse, Zamaar (x Gamaar) and Gdaan (x Cognac by Bask). Gdaan was US Top Ten in Park Horse and Canadian National Champion in Formal Combination.
With transported semen, the Bells stopped standing a stallion. "We have excellent producing mares and breed them to the best stallions that we think will complement them," said Martha Bell.
The Bells have also had many halter winners, including National Futurity winners and like the program. "The quality of the horses continues to increase and a futurity win gives recognition for your breeding program as well as financial rewards," they say. Merri Madre (x Psymadré) was a 2002 Top Ten Yearling Filly. Bell's have had many additional wins at the Minnesota Breeder's Fall Festival, including Unanimous Champion Medallion Yearling Filly, Merri Precious (x Versace) in 2003 placing over 53 other fillies. Other US and Canada performance wins have come in Western Pleasure with Garth MH, sired by Khadraj NA out of the Bell's original mare line.
They presently own purebred offspring by Magnum Psyche, *Magnum Chall HVP, Psymadre, Legacy of Fame, Shaklans Padron, DA Valentino and Odyssey SC.
